Specialization
Business Analytics in collaboration with IBM
In this era of digital disruption, the challenges posed by the growth of data – including growth in volume, variety and velocity is phenomenal. The challenges lie both in handling Big Data and harnessing the value out of the same. These challenges are common across sectors irrespective of manufacturing, services, retail, healthcare, media and tourism. Data Science is a growing field that is poised towards building capabilities that can help in grappling with these data challenges. Only those businesses and communities that build appropriate data competencies may be able to compete/survive in this new world order. There exists a huge demand-supply gap with regard to qualified data scientists and hence the need for a Data Science oriented Business Analytics Curriculum.
This course is offered in collaboration with IBM to equip the students with appropriate knowledge to utilize Data Science as a tool and solution in specific domains. The program aims at enabling the students to find meaningful patterns in large volumes of structured and unstructured data and to make information driven business decisions that impact the performance of the company in terms of profitability and competitiveness. The course content is carefully built by IBM experts; hence the students shall be industry-ready.

Since analytics can be put to use in varied industries over a spectrum of roles, there exist a plethora of opportunities in sectors like Banking, Retail, Fashion, Healthcare, Automotive, etc. some roles which a person specialized in Analytics can choose from which includes - Big Data Analytics Architect, Big Data Engineer, Financial Analyst, Marketing Analytics Manager, Business Intelligence and Analytics Consultant, Analytics Associate Metrics and Analytics Specialist Database Administrator, Fraud Analyst, Retail Sales Analyst, Statistician, Data Scientist, Data Visualization Analyst etc.
Green Business
The manufacturing sector of India has the potential to reach US$ 1 trillion by 2025 and India is expected to rank amongst the top three growth economies and manufacturing destination of the world by the year 2020.
Many companies in the manufacturing sector are aspiring to be a ‘green business’ wherein they shall function in a capacity where no negative impact is made on the local or global environment, the community, or the economy. A green business will also engage in forward-thinking policies for environmental concerns and policies affecting human rights.
Such companies choose to develop sustainable business practices based simply on the intuitive understanding that operating a greener business is ‘the right thing to do’. Most understand that there are benefits to their efforts, but are in need of professionals to plan and envision such initiatives to achieve the real and measurable impacts that their greening activities can actually have on their operations and the marketing of their businesses.
In this specialization the students will become familiar with terms like “circular economy”, “sustainable society” and “Zero-Emission-regions” as they study international best practices and case studies in various fields of Material Flow Management. The practical approach of the study programs challenge the students with developing projects and eco-entrepreneurial business ideas and collect relevant, practical experience through close cooperation with small and medium sized enterprises.

This specialization is being offered in collaboration with International Material Flow Management (IMAT), University of Applied Sciences, Trier Germany, which offers multidisciplinary study courses aiming at educating young professionals in “green business opportunities” through system efficiency strategies.

Primary opportunities are available in the manufacturing sector which is in the process of switching to Green Operations. They can also be employed in emerging careers like Green marketing managers, Compliance managers, Recycling coordinators, Industrial production managers, Farm managers
Hospital Management
Healthcare sector in India is witnessing massive growth with large investments by both private and government entities. Apart from the hospitals, there is a large eco-system of industries within the healthcare sector that includes insurance, labs, pharma, retail etc. This has increased the demand for good quality and well-trained healthcare managers.
Further, India is also becoming an international centre for medical tourism. The healthcare market is expected to grow multifold in the short-run with a rapid growth being witnessed in medical tourism. Having identified the need for specially trained hospital managers, we offer specialized electives in Hospital management. HITS has active collaborations with Hospitals for giving a real-time exposure to the students in hospital management.
Career Opportunities:
An MBA in hospital management is ideal for graduates with a background in life-sciences. Primary opportunities are in hospitals. For graduates with IT background there are also opportunities as healthcare domain specialist in IT companies. Other allied industries which need trained health care managers are insurance, pharmaceuticals, consulting, Health care NGOs, Wellness industries, Medical equipment industries etc.
Logistics Management
Global Logistics Industry includes all activities of the supply chain such as transportation, customer service, inventory management, flow of information and order processing. Other activities of the supply chain are warehousing, material handling, purchasing, packaging, information dissemination and maintenance among others. With the easing of FDI norms, implementation of GST, increasing globalization, growth of ecommerce, positive changes in the regulatory policies, and government initiatives such as “Sagarmala”, “Make in India”, the sector is expected to grow manifold. The Indian logistics sector employs more than 22mn people.
Recognizing the growth potential of this sector, HITS – School of Management offers specialized electives in Logistics to equip the students with the knowledge of relevant concepts in the domain and make them industry ready. HITS also had signed an MOU with the Logistics Sector Skill Council for running a collaborative undergraduate programme in Logistics.

Media and Entertainment
Media and Entertainment is one of the most exciting and rapidly growing sectors, not just in India, but all over the world. The Media and Entertainment industry is growing at this phenomenal pace and getting more professional, there is a huge supply constraint in terms of trained managerial talent. The ever burgeoning media – be it print, radio, TV, films or the internet- is today constantly on the lookout for several lakhs of trained professionals to manage the show. Primary opportunities are available in the hotel sector in the areas of guest and banquet management, marketing and sales.
