What is the Minimum % marks required for admission in SLAAS programs?
Candidates should have qualified 10+2 and should have at least 50% marks.

What are the requirements for Lateral Entry Admission?
Candidate must possess a diploma in relevant discipline of specialization with a minimum of 50% marks from appropriate Boards.

What happens if the Institute finds out that the student does not fulfill one of the stipulated requirements?
The Institute has the right to cancel admission. The fee paid will be forfeited in addition to legal action against the candidate.

My medium of instruction up to school level has been in Regional Language (Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi etc.) and am I eligible to apply?

What does the breakup of yearly fee include?
The yearly fee includes Tuition Fee for two semesters. It also includes exam fee and lab fee as well.

Who is eligible for Condonation Fees?
The student with given medical condition should submit a complete medical history. The records should be verified by Dean Students Affairs and recommended by Attendance Sub-Committee. Based on the recommendation, Vice Chancellor can approve a maximum of 10% relaxation with a payment of Condonation fee.

Does studying Honors / Minor Specialization require additional Fees?
Yes, the student has to pay the requisite fee for the additional courses.

Do you offer Value Added Courses?
Yes, Value Added Courses are offered in addition to the curriculum by the Department of Placement, Training & School of Languages and Higher Education, Leadership and Management (HELM) Centre to help students to improve their skill, communication & employability.
+Are Skill development courses taught to the students?
It is Mandatory for the students to take Skill Enhancement Courses under the Enrichment Programs in the SLAAS curriculum.

One Lecture / Tutorial per week – 1 credit
Two Practical Periods per Week – 1 Credit

What is the total credit for SLAAS Programs?
All degree programs have a minimum of 110 + 4 non-CGPA = 114 Credits spread across SixSemesters.

What is the importance of CBCS?
Choice Based Credit System was introduced from 2015-16 to provide students with a balanced approach to education, to choose their preferred courses within the optional / Elective courses to make their education relevant to them and the needs of the society.

What is the duration of SLAAS Programmes.
All UG Programs in Liberal Arts / Applied Science is for 3 years with Curriculum and Syllabi approved by BOS and Academic Council.

What do General Core Foundation courses consist of?
CF Courses consist of Humanities, Languages and some courses specific to the program.

What comes under Compulsory Courses?
Professional Core (PC) consisting of Theory & Practical courses specific to the chosen program of study. Department Elective (DE) consisting of a group of courses, which students can select, based on their interest and area of specialization.
Non-Department Electives (NDE) courses are offered across disciplines other than parent department. Non-CGPA courses are courses that are compulsory but not included in the GPA and CGPA calculation.

What is the Specialty of Honors Programme?
It is a variant of the Undergraduate Bachelor's degree containing additional core subject papers or a higher standard of study.
For students who are looking for a competitive edge in their career. It will be also beneficial if they want to become a professional in their field or head start their way to a PhD.

Who are eligible for UG Honors Degree programme?
Students who hold a good academic record in school as well as scoring a CGPA of 8.0 and above in each semester up to IV Semester with no history of arrears are eligible to take up Honors.

What is the Specialty of Minors Programme?
UG Degree with Minor Specialization was introduced to facilitate the students to choose a specialize in an area of their choice and build competence in that specialized area other than in their parent department.

When must a student register for Minor Specialization or Honors?
The student must register before the beginning of the V Semester and complete the 12 credits subject to a maximum of 6 Credits per Semester.

How many courses and how many credits per course are a must for an additional Minor Specialization or Honors UG Degree Programme?
Students must enroll for 4 Additional Courses, each with 3 credits totaling 12 credits to earn a UG honors Degree or UG Degree with Minor Specialization.

What’s the minimum attendance Percentage required for appearing for the Exam?
A student has to obtain a minimum of 75% cumulative attendance for all courses put together in a semester.

Is there any attendance relaxation?
25% allowance in attendance is given for activities under NCC /NSS /Cultural/ Sports/ Medical conditions.

What happens if a student’s attendance falls below 75%?
The student will not be permitted to appear for End Semester Examination. They will be detained (DE) and cannot proceed to the subsequent semester.

How many working days are there in a Semester?
A total of 90 working days are mandatory in a Semester. Some Saturdays might be included

What is the Maximum duration to complete a SLAAS Program?
A student has to complete the Liberal Arts / Applied Sciences Program within 3 years, but a maximum relaxation of 5 years will be given.

Can a student take a break mid-program?
A student is permitted to apply for a maximum of two-semester break, based on Vice Chancellors approval and committees’ recommendation for valid reasons such as to clear arrears backlog, ill health or startup etc.

What is the Assessment Procedure?
Every course has two components CIA – Continuous Internal Assessment and ESE – End Semester Examination
+
How is the CIA done?
This assessment will be carried out throughout the semester as per the Academic schedule for both Theory and Practical courses.

How is the weightage for CIA & ESE calculated?
All Theory courses, theory courses with Practical component, DE, NDE and projects with Viva Voce will have a weightage of 50% CIA and a balance of 50% from ESE.
Practical courses will have a weightage of 80% of marks from CIA and 20% from the ESE practical or Viva-voce Exam. While for all Design projects, Comprehension, Internship will be evaluated 100 weightage marks will be based on CIA.

What is the minimum Pass Percentage to be obtained?
Candidate has to secure minimum 40% to pass the Course.
+What is the procedure for Repeat Examination?
Students who fail to secure a pass percentage or were absent in the End Semester Exam are provided with an opportunity to register and appear for repeat examinations by paying prescribed fees.
During odd semester ESE, the repeat Exam for odd semester will be conducted. During even semester ESE, even semester repeat exams will be conducted.
